PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee and Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey announced Sunday they're taking action in response to the Trump administration's demand that states reverse their payouts of the November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
The Trump administration's order came in the form of a memo by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
In a statement, McKee said his team is "preparing contingency strategies" to ensure the benefits for November are released. (McKee's office said Saturday full benefits were released to 79,000 households in the state.)
"We have reached out directly to Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) within USDA related to the latest federal communication," McKee said. "At this time, recipients' EBT cards remain active, and
