For most of the week, the Soo Greyhounds’ results didn’t match their play. They controlled the puck, generated chances, and largely dictated pace, but lost twice at home to Flint and Guelph in low-scoring affairs.
So by Saturday’s date with the Barrie Colts, it wasn’t just about earning points anymore. It was about proving that their process worked.
A chaotic 4-3 shootout win over the Colts at GFL Memorial Gardens offered some form of validation, even if it meant salvaging just two points out of a potential six.
“I like our week here,” head coach John Dean said. “We have to coach process.”
Even so, the result mattered given how the night began — with the same frustrations that had threatened to define a nearly winless homestand.
