FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) --- Mike Nail, the radio play-by-play announcer for the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball program for nearly 30 years, has died.
Nail, often dubbed the 'Voice of the Razorbacks,' is likely best known to Razorbacks fans for calling Scotty Thurman’s game-winning 3-pointer in Arkansas’ 1994 NCAA Championship win over Duke.
He broadcasted Razorbacks games from the 1981–82 season through 2009–10, including the 1993–94 national championship season and three Final Four appearances.
Over his career, Nail called 906 games under four head coaches, Eddie Sutton, Nolan Richardson, Stan Heath, and John Pelphrey, including 48 NCAA Tournament games, eight conference championships, two NIT appearances and two national championship games.
