AMES, Iowa —

A Marshalltown man is pleading not guilty in a case where investigators say he beat a child to death in Ames last year.

Court documents show Tyler Lee Zeuthen, 24, entered a not guilty plea earlier this week ahead of his arraignment scheduled for Monday, Nov 10.

According to court documents, last November, Ames police responded to a report of a child who was not breathing . Despite life-saving efforts, the child was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say the hospital staff and members of the Ames Fire Department found various bruises on the child’s body. According to Ames police, an autopsy was conducted and showed that the child had fatal internal injuries that were caused by blunt trauma.
