Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said there was no point in getting embroiled in the debate around his chalked off goal in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City .

The Blues were leading 1-0 thanks to Erling Haaland's header when van Dijk thought he had levelled the contest with a header from a corner only for the offside flag to go up against Andy Robertson who ducked in front of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

VAR checked the decision and agreed with the on-field officials and the goal was ruled out. City then scored a second before the break through Nico Gonzalez and Jeremy Doku capped a fabulous individual performance with a wonderful third to seal the points.
