Blue Origin postponed a planned second flight of its flagship New Glenn rocket on Sunday, delaying a mission that would serve as a crucial test for the Jeff Bezos-backed space company in its quest to challenge SpaceX.
Scheduled to launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida, the rocket’s launch time was pushed back several times before Blue Origin ultimately called it off due to the weather conditions and unspecified ground equipment issues. It aims to send two Rocket Lab Corp.-made spacecraft on a trajectory toward Mars for New Glenn’s first NASA mission.
It’s unclear when the company will reattempt a long-awaited second flight after the rocket’s January debut.
