A 37-year-old Bronx man is facing murder charges in connection with a fatal assault at an apartment building, police said.
Anthony Mawuena of the 1800 block of Phelan Place was arrested Sunday around 1:35 p.m. and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, according to a statement by the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
The incident occurred Saturday at approximately 8:50 p.m. when police received a 911 call reporting an unconscious male inside 1851 Phelan Place. Officers arriving at the scene were informed that a 48-year-old man had been assaulted and struck multiple times in the head and body with a metal object.
