GLENS FALLS — To survive and advance is the name of the game once postseason play rolls around. That may seem cliché, but Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake field hockey certainly had to channel this mantra on Sunday afternoon.
Despite getting caught on their heels for the majority of the 60-minute contest, BH-BL narrowly escaped with a 2-1 victory over Section 1’s Horace Greeley in a rain-soaked Class B regional final at Putt LaMay Field in Glens Falls. BH-BL held tightly to its one-goal cushion down the stretch, withstanding a late flurry from the downstate visitors and securing the program’s third straight trip to the state semifinals.
