Landover, Md. — Washington Commanders defensive lineman Daron Payne was ejected in the second quarter at Northwest Stadium on Sunday for striking Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown in the face after a 13-yard touchdown run by running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

After Gibbs found his way into the end zone — in no small part thanks to St. Brown, who helped push him across the goal line along with tight end Sam LaPorta — St. Brown began to walk past Payne, who struck St. Brown in the face mask, prompting an ejection from the game. It's unclear what caused Payne's reaction.
