Three United States Air Force B-52H Stratofortress bombers from the 2nd Bomb Wing based at Barksdale Air Force Base touched down at Morón Air Base in Spain on the morning of November 8, kicking off joint exercises as part of Task Force Europe. The first European bomber rotation of 2026 will fly multilateral missions with Finland, Lithuania, Sweden, and other NATO allies, with the exercises based out of Spain. They will be rehearsing complex, high-threat target scenarios.
Multiple sources have tracked the three jets across the North Atlantic, noting that they were supported by KC-46 and KC-135 refueling support. Interception practice will be taking place with Spanish Eurofighter Typhoons. Beyond this training, the deployment underscores extended US deterrence and rapid-response reach
