There is a threat to lives and properties in parts of Kinross as burning embers from a bushfire are likely to be blown around homes.

Firefighters are working to douse the fire which erupted in bushland near Connolly Drive and Grangemouth Turn about 4.40pm on Sunday.

A bushfire watch and act warning is in place for people in the area after burning embers from the fire are likely to be blown around homes, potentially causing more fires.

Residents are urged to leave now if they are able to do so, unless they plan to stay and defend homes. The fire is out of control and not contained.
