CONNECTICUT, USA — Gov. Ned Lamont said Sunday that Connecticut does not need to take back benefits for the SNAP food aid program that were issued for the month of November, amid a directive from the Trump administration to reverse the full payouts.

Patrick Penn, deputy undersecretary for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, wrote to state SNAP directors that the full payout of SNAP benefits for November was "unauthorized" and that "States must immediately undo any steps taken" to issue the benefits, the Associated Press reported Sunday.

The directive came after the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday granted the Trump administration's appeal to temporarily block a court order to fully fund the SNAP payments. In the appeal, the administration asked to continue with partially funding SNAP pay
