PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A person is facing a felony assault charge after a stabbing that happened in Providence Sunday afternoon.

Kristy dosReis, a spokesperson for the Providence Police Department, said the incident happened around 5:15 p.m. at 386 Broad Street.

When police got there, they found a man in his 40s who was conscious and alert, dosReis said. The man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The suspect was found near Broad and Myrtle Streets before being taken into custody.

Police are currently investigating the stabbing.
