Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis L. Ortiz have been indicted on charges that stem from alleged gambling misconduct as it pertains to manipulating wagers on specific pitches, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York announced on Sunday.
The pair could face up to 65 years in prison if convicted on a slew of charges, including wire fraud conspiracy, honest services wire fraud conspiracy, conspiracy to influence sporting contests by bribery, and money laundering conspiracy. Ortiz is already in custody.
