What to know on Day 40 of the government shutdown:
A deal has been reached in the Senate, a source familiar with the deal told CBS News, with at least eight Democrats prepared to vote in favor of advancing a funding measure as soon as Sunday night.
Although no votes are currently scheduled, Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters "we plan to vote today" on a funding measure as part of a plan to end the shutdown.
Senate appropriators released the text of a package of three long-term funding bills on Sunday that are part of the plan to end the impasse. The strategy involves voting to advance the House-passed continuing resolution and amending it to include the appropriations package — known as a "minibus" — as well as a longer extension of government funding.
