VIRGINIA (WJHL) — Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin said on Sunday that he expects more than 850,000 Virginians to receive 65% of their SNAP benefits by Thursday.

Youngkin said in a social media post that the decision followed "new federal guidance." He also attached a release from his office.

Following new federal guidance, we anticipate that 65% of SNAP benefits for more than 850,000 Virginians will be issued no later than this upcoming Thursday, 11/14.

In Virginia, we provided equivalent benefits to SNAP last week when no federal benefits were provided, with the launch of the Virginia Emergency Nutrition Assistance (VENA) effort to ensure families had uninterrupted access to food assistance, and we will continue to do everything possible to support Virginians in need.
