SANTA CLARA — Rams wide receiver Davante Adams left the Rams’ 42-26 win over the San Francisco 49ers with an oblique injury, but head coach Sean McVay said the 12-year veteran likely could have returned if called upon.
“He got his oblique. I think he could have been able to come back in if it was a little bit closer,” McVay said after the game.
While running a route in the fourth quarter, Adams stopped and reached for his lower back on the left side of his torso. He left the field and sat on the bench in conversation with VP of sports performance Reggie Scott, then tried to run back over to the coaching staff to say he was ready to return.
Scott caught up with him and pulled Adams aside, and Adams bent over with his hands on his knees before following Scott to the blue injury tent.
