The father of a South Australian boy who died after his pneumonia was left untreated has been refused bail.

Shane McKenzie Wanganeen previously pleaded guilty to the criminal neglect of his seven-year-old son Makai, who died in 2022 after being taken to hospital with serious health concerns .
Wanganeen was earlier released on bail but was taken back into custody following multiple breaches.
Supreme Court justice Ben Doyle on Monday refused his application for re-release, noting Wanganeen had been "persistently non-compliant" while on supervised bail.
