Canberra Liberal leaders have stood down from their positions following turmoil in one of the party's worst-performing branches.
The party's ACT leader Leanne Castley and deputy Jeremy Hanson will quit the leadership after just more than a year in the role, saying it will give the Liberals the best shot at governing in 2028.
"In the spirit of ensuring a genuine fresh start for the new team, we will not be commenting publicly on the circumstances that have led to this decision," she said in a statement on Monday.
The ACT Liberals have not been in government since 2001.
Ms Castley assumed the leadership of the party from Elizabeth Lee after the Liberals' election loss in October 2024.
