CHAPEL HILL — UNC football has a two-game winning streak after earning a 20-15 win against Stanford on Nov. 8 at Kenan Stadium.
It wasn’t an offensive showcase for either team, with the Tar Heels (4-5, 2-3 ACC) and Cardinal (3-7, 2-4) tied at 3 entering the second half. UNC built a 20-3 lead in the second half, but had to fend off a late surge from Stanford, which scored the final 12 points of the game and had a chance to win the game with under a minute left to play.
The Tar Heels had two takeaways and a season-high nine sacks, including three sacks each from linebacker Tyler Thompson and defensive lineman Melkart Abou-Jaoude, with two sacks from linebacker Andrew Simpson
But UNC also had a season-worst 11 penalties for 73 yards and a fumble. Still, the Tar Heels’ offense responded
