MILTON, Wis. (WMTV) - When Milton High School students learned that some of their classmates could lose access to federal food assistance, they didn’t hesitate to help.
In response to an expected interruption to the federal SNAP program, students and staff across the School District of Milton joined forces to create “Milton Meals Matter” — a community-wide grocery drive designed to keep food on local tables.
The initiative, organized through student organizations, athletic teams and staff, aims to support both the Milton Food Pantry and families who may face a gap in benefits.
“It was presented to student council and student council kind of went all hands-on deck and started to just assign people to certain things,” said Delaney Wixon, Student Council President at Milton High School.
