Kellie Sloane, the Liberal member for Vaucluse, and Allegra Spender, the Independent member for Wentworth, have referred threats they have received on social media to the police after both condemned a new-Nazi rally that took place outside of the New South Wales Parliament House on Saturday.
Posts made on both X - formerly known as Twitter - and Telegram threatened the women, and the pair have referred some posts to police for further investigation.
Sloane said the messages reached abusive and intimidating levels.
"They were particularly intimidating, particularly violent," she said. "There were multiple threats, there were dozens of abusive messages, it was a typical Twitter pile-on."
She confirmed she had deactivated her X account, but insisted it was not purely because of the threat
