The design, layout and location of a derelict hotel make it an easy target for vandals after Coventry City Council admitted there are 'significant security challenges'. Allesley Hotel on Birmingham Road has been closed since 2022.

Since then it has been a magnet for antisocial behaviour, arson and vandalism. Last weekend fire crews were called to the site for the second time in a fortnight.

But the design of the once grand venue means it can be difficult to stop people getting in, though the council says it is working with several other bodies in a bid to try and keep culprits at bay.
