Man, I sure hope whatever mid-round draft picks the Steelers saved at the trade deadline — whatever picks they saved in the offseason, for that matter — are worth it someday.

But even if they are, it won’t help the team this season. And in a wide-open AFC, the lack of another receiver might just cost them the AFC North or even a wild card spot. It’s that serious.

Never has general manager Omar Khan’s long-festering roster deficiency been more blatantly on display — Roman Wilson’s junk touchdown notwithstanding — than in Sunday night’s 25-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

I’m even starting to think keeping George Pickens would have been the move (although I’d still bet he would have imploded by now).
