GREEN BAY – In its third consecutive appearance in the WIAA volleyball state tournament, Newman Catholic dropped a competitive four-set match to Rib Lake on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Resch Center.
Newman picked up where they left off in the semifinal, rallying to take the first set, but Rib Lake refused to go away.
Their defensive effort propelled them to just their second state championship in school history, and first-ever for the girls volleyball program.
Despite stellar performances from Newman standouts in the Division 5 title game, Rib Lake finished with four players producing double-digit digs, a defensive effort that prevented Newman from taking over by going on game-swinging runs.
