When compared to Hollywood cinematic universes like the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), both of which kicked off post 2008, the Indian cinematic universes are still quite few and young. They’ve all also been designed retrospectively. Rohit Shetty can be credited as the architect of the first Indian cinematic universe — the Copverse — which was announced with his 2018 Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba, but retrospectively kicked off with his 2011 Ajay Devgn-starrer Singham.
