At 1:23 a.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service released a freeze warning valid for Tuesday between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. for Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties.
The weather service says, “Sub-freezing temperatures between 30 and 32 degrees expected.”
“Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation,” says the weather service. “Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.”
