RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The three main takeaways from the Nov. 4 election were that Councilman at-large Daniel Ursu will continue his long career in public service, newcomer Cherita Shaw will join Richmond Heights City Council, and Bobby Jordan will serve another four years as council president.
Ursu received the most votes in a field of five at-large candidates vying for two open seats. Unofficial Cuyahoga County Board of Elections results had Ursu atracting 1,360 votes for 30.4 percent, followed by second-time candidate Shaw, who will serve her first term after receiving 1,116 votes for 25 percent.
Ursu served on City Council first from 1985-89 before becoming the city’s longest serving mayor at 24 years (1989-2013). He returned to council in 2015 and has served ever since.
