BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — As this historic government shutdown continues, thousands of flights continue to be impacted across the country. If you plan on flying soon, this is your guide to help any of your concerns.
I spoke with Sweeney, and Katy Nastro of Going.com. They both gave travel insight for this unprecedented time.
"The reason all of this is happening is because there's simply not enough air traffic controllers, there's already a shortage on a good day," explained Sam Sweeney, who covers transportation for ABC News.
On Friday the FAA cut 4% of flights at 40 major airport across the country. That percentage is expected to rise to 10% in the coming days, if the shutdown continues. The flights impacted by these reductions are scheduled during the hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
