The family of Simone Strobel, who was murdered while on holiday in northern New South Wales 20 years ago, says a second coronial inquest did not hear any evidence from the "most important" witnesses.
The 25-year-old's naked body was discovered under palm fronds at a bocce court in the heart of Lismore six days after she went missing on February 11, 2005.
She had been staying at a caravan park about 90 metres away with her boyfriend Tobias Moran (then Suckfuell), his sister Katrin Suckfuell and friend Jens Martin.
They told investigators Ms Strobel went missing after walking away from the campground and she was last seen by other witnesses walking on a road close to midnight.
The Strobel family issued a statement after State Coroner Teresa O'Sullivan delivered her findings from the sec
