Dwayne Johnson is opening up about navigating a difficult time in his past.

The 53-year-old WWE star turned actor recently looked back on going through a tough separation and divorce with ex-wife Dany Garcia .

While speaking on The Hollywood Reporter ‘s Awards Chatter podcast , Dwayne spoke about choosing projects that were lighter and didn’t require much of a challenge as he was going through depression amid their divorce.

“The truth is — and I can look back on that time with real clarity these days — those days, things were a little cloudy,” he shared. “I loved making those movies. I also think I manifested those because I don’t think I was ready for anything other than easy, light, family films that made me feel good.”
