In the wake of the election of a communist and Islamist as Mayor of New York City — remarkably flying under the banner of the Democratic Party — and Senator Chuck Schumer’s capitulation to the demands of the far left in his party to shut down the government, it’s easy to be pessimistic about the future of Democrats as a party.
It would be customary at this point to say “I take no pleasure” in announcing this verdict. But this is not a matter of personal pleasure or displeasure. The question is whether the Democratic Party can be trusted with the country’s future.
A history of failures
For two centuries, with notable exceptions, the Democratic Party has failed the American people in ways that are often lost in the partisan times in which we live. And its failures continue to this day.
