It is difficult to imagine how many dogs never have the chance to reveal their true personalities before their time runs out.

For Mulan, a gentle Pittie girl, her protective instincts nearly cost her life. Shaped by fear and past experiences, she was quickly labeled “aggressive” and placed on the euthanasia list.

To shelter staff, she was “severely reactive”, barking at anyone who approached and refusing to let anyone near her kennel. They believed she had no hope.

Then, just when it seemed her story would end, a determined rescuer arrived, unwilling to give up on her.

A Dog Misunderstood

Mulan arrived at the shelter after her owners surrendered her when their landlord forced them to give her up. Shy and undersocialized, she suddenly found herself without a home.
