Labor Party powerbroker, senator and Sky News political commentator Graham Richardson will be farewelled at a state funeral after he died on Saturday aged 76.
Anthony Albanese on Monday said Mr Richardson’s wife Amanda had accepted the government’s offer for a state funeral.
Details of when and where the funeral will be held are still to be confirmed.
“Amanda has this morning been in contact with me. She has accepted the offer of a state future funeral for Graham,” the Prime Minister told reporters in Canberra.
“When those details sort through, we’ll make an appropriate announcement.
“It’s true as well that when I spoke to Amanda about what Graham’s wishes were, she responded by saying that Graham and her thought he lived forever. It was a bit like that.”
