TRUMBULL, Conn. (WTNH) -- Elected officials and regional leaders are holding a news conference on Monday morning in Trumbull to raise concerns about the proposed sale of the company that provides water to over 750,000 customers in municipalities such as Oxford, Southington, and Granby.
Those in support of the Aquarion sale argue that it will lower rates for the hundreds of thousands of customers, while others are skeptical that it will do the opposite.
The $2.4 billion deal is before PURA, the government body overseeing public utilities.
The sale would give Aquarion Water Company, owned by Eversource, to "Aquarion Water Authority," a new quasi-public regional water entity based in New Haven.
