The life of former Plain Township resident Joshua Jay – who now lives in both New York and Las Vegas – has been magical. Literally.

From the day the 8-year-old’s dad taught him his first magic trick, through the early days of learning the techniques of a magician and the stories of magicians who came before him, during years of performing and lecturing worldwide, while he created his own illusionary tricks and wrote books teaching others his trade, and even now as he co-owns a company that sells tricks and books to other magicians, Jay's passion has been magic.

"My dad used to do magic," he recalled. "He did a trick and did not tell me how it was done. I was hooked. I had to go to my room and figure it out. I did, and it led to a lifetime in magic."
