HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - Police are still looking for whoever broke into Evansville Animal Control over the weekend and stole a dog. However, they may have an idea of who is responsible.

Officials state someone recently came to the shelter and tried to adopt the dog that eventually went missing but was denied the opportunity.

Police say they arrived early Saturday morning to find a glass door smashed. They also found the lock on the back gate of the property was cut.

No other animals and no property were taken or disturbed during the break-in.
