PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices continue to climb in central Illinois.
GasBuddy reports the average price of a gallon of unleaded on Monday is $3.21/g, up 7.5 cents in the past week.
The average is more than 4.7 cents lower than a month ago, and 0.5 cents cheaper than one year ago.
Triple A is also reporting a $3.21/g average in the Peoria-Pekin metro area on Monday, up close to seven cents in the past week.
The cheapest price reported on Sunday in the Peoria area by GasBuddy was $2.99/g, with the highest at $3.39/g.
Analysts say refinery issues in the Great Lakes region have kept prices elevated, while inventory data from the government shows a large weekly drop in supplies. They also note that potential flight cancellations before Thanksgiving could increase demand.
