About 8,850 customers in Metairie were without power Monday morning as a cold front continued to blow through the New Orleans metro area, bringing wind gusts and cooler weather, according to Entergy.

The bulk of the outage, around 8,840 people, was first reported at 5:36 a.m., affecting a swath of Metairie, largely between West Metairie Avenue and Veterans Boulevard.

Restoration is expected around 8:30 a.m., according to Entergy's outage map .

Entergy did not say what caused the outage, but forecasters with the National Weather Service of New Orleans said gusts of up to 35 mph were expected through Monday.
