A powerful explosion occurred in a car near Gate No. 1 of Delhi’s Red Fort (Lal Qila) Metro Station on Monday evening, killing one person and injuring several others. The incident triggered panic in the high-security zone, prompting an immediate response from the police and fire department.
According to the Delhi Fire Department, a call about the explosion was received around 655 pm, after which seven fire tenders and 15 CAT ambulances were rushed to the spot. The fire spread to three nearby vehicles, all of which were gutted before firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control.
Police sources said the blast was extremely powerful, shattering nearby streetlights. Senior officers, including the DCP of the Special Cell, have reached the site to supervise the investigation.
