The NFL announced that Washington Commanders DT Daron Payne has been suspended for 1 game without pay. He was ejected from yesterday’s game against the Detroit Lions after he struck WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and was penalized for unsportsmanlike-conduct. Payne was named a captain by Dan Quinn for the game, and will now miss the Dolphins game in Madrid, Spain, unless he appeals, and it’s reduced to a fine. The team is reportedly leaving for Madrid tonight.
After the game, fellow DT Javon Kinlaw said Payne was provoked before the Lions scored, and “it was some bullshit” that the refs didn’t do anything then. Kinlaw was flagged for his own unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the successful two-point conversion. St. Brown was asked about it after the game and said they got into a little scuffle two
