DENVER (KDVR) — Hundreds of flights have been cancelled at the Denver International Airport since the Federal Aviation Administration ordered a reduction in air traffic during the ongoing government shutdown.
The FAA announced a list of 40 major markets in the United States, including DIA, that will see flight cuts as airports nationwide are experiencing short staffing and fatigue, as air traffic controllers have gone unpaid since the government shutdown started on Oct. 1.
The airports were required to reduce daily operations beginning Friday, with a 4% reduction in air traffic control starting Friday, then a 6% reduction by Nov. 11, an 8% reduction by Nov. 13 and a 10% reduction by Nov. 14.
