FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- Florence and Lake City are set to take measures Monday to help people amid the federal government shutdown.

The Florence City Council will meet at 1 p.m. to discuss a resolution that would authorize the city manager to reappropriate funds to local food banks in response to the government's shutdown and the ending of SNAP benefits, provided that "such funds are supported by reimbursements from supported organizations."

If approved, it would authorize the city manager to reappropriate up to $60,000 from existing budgeted funds, provided it doesn't directly impact or reduce any current city services, programs, or personnel for Florence citizens, to distribute to one or more local food banks in the city. The resolution would go into effect immediately.
