Rob Gronkowski is set to sign a one-day contract Wednesday to retire as a New England Patriot.

The team announced the news in a social media post on Monday morning. A press conference and contract signing will be held at 12:15 p.m. live on the team's digital and social media platforms.

Gronkowski had first teased the news during an appearance on Fox Sports on Sunday.

“Here’s some news first everyone,” he said. “I am signing a one-day contract with the Patriots this week coming up to retire as a Patriot and be a Patriot for life just like all of you out here.”
