Two people accused of murdering a two-year-old girl will stand trial in June next year. Isabelle Rose Welsh died in hospital following an incident on Hartington Close in Thornaby, on September 13.
Harrison Simpson, 21, and Alexandra Walker, 25, both of Hartington Close, will stand trial accused of her murder and of causing, or allowing, the death of a child. Simpson is also accused of rape.
On Monday, Simpson and Walker appeared at Teesside Crown Court on video links from prison. Judge Jonathan Carroll told them that they will "return to court in due course" to enter a plea.
The judge set a trial date for June 22, 2026. The two were remanded in custody until then.
