Lawmakers were set to return to Capitol Hill on Monday, Nov. 10 after the Senate voted to clear a path toward ending the longest government shutdown in history.

On Nov. 9, the Senate voted 60-40 to advance a temporary spending measure that would fully reopen the government until Jan. 30.

Seven Democrats and one independent who caucuses with Democrats stepped across party lines to agree with congressional Republicans on the deal on the 40th day of the shutdown.

However, the shutdown isn't over yet — the Senate still needs to cast a final vote to pass the funding agreement. After that, the measure will need to pass the House and then be signed by President Donald Trump.

Here's what to know about next Senate vote.

When is the next shutdown vote in the Senate?

The Senate was set to reconvene on Monday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. ET, with a vote expected that day. Lawmakers would need to pass the continuing resolution in order for it to advance to the House.

As for when, specifically, the vote will take place, Senate Majority Leader John Thune said on the Senate floor on Nov. 10 that his colleagues would vote "in the very near future."

"I’m hoping that will be hours and not days," Thune said. "Let’s get it done and get it over the House so that we can get this government open."

While it would take just one senator to delay debate, Thune urged lawmakers in both parties to move the legislation quickly.

"The American people have suffered for long enough. Let’s not pointlessly drag this bill out," Thune said. "I ask all of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle – both parties – to make it possible for quickly pass this bill."
