LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has found the driver accused of a hit-and-run crash that killed a University of Kansas student.

According to the department, 36-year-old William Ray Klingler was arrested around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. He is charged with reckless involuntary homicide, coming three days after he allegedly hit and killed 20-year-old Elsa McGrain.

At 3:35 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, DCSO was notified that a body had been found near the road in the 1700 block of E 1500 Road in north Lawrence.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a young woman’s body. They believe she was hit by a vehicle while out running around 6 p.m. on Thursday, the night before.

She was later identified as 20-year-old Elsa McGrain of Omaha, Nebraska. Acc
