PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (WKBT) — A Prairie du Chien police officer is on paid administrative leave as authorities investigate allegations of misconduct.

Police Chief Kyle Teynor confirmed Monday that Officer Dwight Kussmaul was placed on leave October 21 following an investigation that began October 17 with an anonymous CrimeStoppers tip.

The investigation took a turn when initial findings revealed the tip pointed to an officer who was not involved in the alleged conduct. However, investigators later identified Kussmaul as potentially connected to the behavior described in the anonymous report, according to Teynor's statement.

The Prairie du Chien Police Department has not released specific details about the nature of the allegations.

The investigation remains active.
