A police officer who was involved in restraining Sheku Bayoh before his death has dropped out of the public inquiry.
Retired Pc Alan Paton was one of at least six police officers who held the 31-year-old on a street in Kirkcaldy , Fife, in May 2015.
He is the first core participant to withdraw from the public inquiry following the resignation of its chairman, Lord Bracadale, last month.
The former judge was accused of bias after it emerged he had held a series of private meetings with Mr Bayoh’s family - saying he had lost the confidence of a majority of the core participants.
