Flights to and from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport continue to be disrupted by FAA capacity reductions resulting from the government shutdown.
Flight tracking website FlightAware showed 447 flights to and from Sky Harbor were delayed and 96 flights were canceled as of 10:15 a.m. Nov. 10.
Throughout the government shutdown, airports nationwide have experienced air traffic controller shortages. Controller shortages at Sky Harbor led to ground delays and the FAA's mandated capacity reductions , which started at 4% on Nov. 7 and will increase to 6% on Nov. 11.
Although air traffic controllers are considered essential workers and must report to work, some are not coming in as they wouldn't be paid during the shutdown. A deal to end the shutdown would give unpaid federal workers
